Determinants of semi-formal credit participation among rural farm households in Kakamega County, Kenya

In recent years, devolved governments in Kenya have been offering semi-formal credit programs to rural households. Despite the key role of this type enhancing welfare household welfare, little is known on determinants farm participation programs. Therefore, study sought identify factors influencing farmers’ program Kakamega county. The used a multi-stage sampling approach gather data from 179 respondents. collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics and probit model. results indicated that accessed by households allocated both on-farm off-farm enterprises. Also, significantly influenced included farming experience, occupation head, group membership, distance source, nearest market, access financial training. Based results, policymakers other stakeholders should offer training, thus productivity promoting their they need encourage farmers join socio-economic groups engage sustainable activities.
